Emily Camaren and Abe Nesbitt would like a space that is conducive to both their lifestyles, especially since her successful new business as a pet sitter has altered their needs in their undersized cottage. With his music and her business, they both need more storage in their living room. The Design on a Dime team sets out to give them a modern cottage makeover for just $1,000.

The Dilemma
The two-tone yellow and red walls are a bit harsh for this small cottage, and the furnishings are sparse. The living room already has cottage elements, such as painted paneling, lots of windows, open beams and a fireplace, but the couple wants to modernize it. They need more storage and seating for guests. The existing work area is packed and doesn't have any actual workspace.
