Homeowners Jennifer and Jason Ricketts are desperate for a living room makeover, and the good news is they're not afraid of color! Host/designer David Bromstad looks through their closets and the rest of their house where he finds tons of personality and color. He decides to base the design around the only color he didn't find in the house bold red while staying kid-friendly, since they have small children. Bromstad goes shopping with color/design assistant Danielle Hirsch for inspiration, and they find a red rug and machine-washable pillows to match.
Before: Neutral and Pale
With its neutral colors and ordinary furnishings, the living room is dull and washed out. Painted the same color as the rest of the room, the fireplace is hardly noticeable. The only splash of color in the room is the not-so-stylish beanbag chair. The Ricketts want an updated traditional look for their living room. For David's Design Tips and all available product information, click on the second After photo of the room.
