Wine Room Escape

reDesign : Episode HRDN-308 -- More Projects »

Before: Lacks Interest
Andrea and Tim recently bought a beautiful modern home. They love the high ceilings and the spacious layout, but they think the family room lacks interest (pictured, right). The homeowners love to entertain, but need more room, so they've decided to change the layout of the house by moving their formal dining space into the living room. Since this is the first room guests see when they enter the home, Andrea and Tim want the space to reflect their personalities and their love of fine wine and entertaining.

After: Sophisticated Wine Room
Next: Wine Storage
By using dark woods, deep fabrics and symmetrical cabinets, Kenneth creates a cozy dining space with Old-World style and sophistication. The back wall was transformed into a functional focal point with custom-designed cabinetry and fireplace accents. The plantation shutters, rich colors and hardwood floors all add to the warm elegance of the room. The dark wall color helps keep the eye down and balance the height of the contemporary ceilings.
