Eclectic Media Room

A crowded, beige family room is turned into an eclectic, contemporary media room with some creative remixing.

Design Remix : Episode HDMIX-404 -- More Projects »
Newlyweds Cliff Wong and Helen Chen have a bland family room. When Chen was away on vacation, she left the decorating to Wong. Like most guys would, he went out and bought a big TV. And what goes with a big TV? A big sofa, of course. Chen was not happy with the big, beige decor and wants a room that will marry their different styles. Host Karen McAloon finds a solution for turning the all-beige room centered around the giant TV into a cozy, contemporary media room. Warm colors on the walls and a faux fireplace made from an old wooden dresser help bring the focus away from the TV, and a shiny chandelier adds a finishing touch.

Before: Big and Beige
This room is too bland, with a huge sectional sofa that crowds the space. The beige walls and curtains are crying out for color and style.
