Wavy Stripes - $57
Four pieces of chalk taped to a wood board makes it possible to draw the wavy lines. Red and fuchsia paint saturate the gray wall with eye-popping color. (fuchsia paint: Sherwin Williams - 6841/Dynamo; red paint: Sherwin Williams - Frosted Pomegranite)

Window Track - $40
Vertical blind track is installed above the windows and disguised with wood-grain adhesive paper. Grommets are added to the top of the fabric to hang it from the clips in the track.

Beach Mat Blinds - $10
Beach mats are another cost-effective option for dressing the windows. (mats: IKEA - Hassli Rug, 30067131)

Fireplace Screen - $18
Heating elements are secured with wire for a unique fireplace screen.

Retro Rug - $33
Flokati Rug - $48
Squares are cut out of a piece of remnant carpet to reveal the wood floor underneath. Another option is to place pieces of a flokati rug on the open squares, which can be kept in place with spray adhesive and a burlap backing.

Platform Sofas - $46 each
Bi-fold and hollow-core doors are used to create the base for a pair of platform sofas. Twin-size mattresses upholstered in a canvas cover provide the cushion. Bolsters and square pillows add more comfort.

Modular Tables - $99
Four plywood cubes on casters make one large coffee table and when used separately become side tables and seating with the addition of covered cushions.

"Cube" Side Table - $34
Precut particle rounds are put together with L-brackets to form a "cube" side table.
