Hot Pink Living Room Makeover

Hot pink in a living room? Why not?!

Before: This loft living area has some nice pieces but the white walls aren't very interesting and none of the great artwork is hung. Plus, the very high walls are definitely not being shown to their best advantage.

After: One of the challenges with pink is maintaining a sense of sophistication. Here, that's accomplished by incorporating cool, modern furniture like the leather Eames chair and vintage coffee table. Gray wool suiting on the couch adds a masculine touch and is topped by a great collage of art.

Before: The open plan includes a bedroom loft, kitchen and a living room, which all need to be tied together using the forecast color pink.

After: The bright pink accent wall in the living area is balanced in the breakfast nook with a photomural of a tropical beach at sunset. What a great way to start the day!
Hot pink was everywhere in the '60s; modern romantic and intense, it perfectly captured the spirit of the era. The hot pink of this millennium has a fresh element of sophistication that's very appealing and clearly not just for little girls' rooms anymore. Designer Alysa Weinstein shows how to use this forecast color to make over a living space in Brooklyn. The whole loft is transformed just by adding a hot pink accent wall and some great contemporary furniture at affordable prices.
