Before: Anousheh Mortazavi has a hard time making design choices so this cluttered room reflects the opinions of many family members rather than her. She thinks professional help is going to be good therapy!

After: Getting rid of old couches puts all the focus on a custom piece and makes the entire room more streamlined. Striped faux parchment walls add an adult look, making the entire room look warm and even larger.

Before: The dining area is nice and just needs some finishing touches.

After: A table runner topped with a basket along with a mirror with hanging flowers ties this space in to the living room.
Photo

Before: Even though this is a door to nowhere, it still doesn't look quite right with furniture in front of it.
Photo

After: Billowy curtains trimmed in toile bring color and interest to this element and create a soft frame for the artwork.
Photo

Before: These beautiful windows are hidden behind furniture and disappear into the space.

After: A window seat with a recycled door front turns the massive feature into a destination. The windows actually look taller and richer now.
Like many homeowners, Anousheh Mortazavi is fearful of change and making design decisions. Designer Karen McAloon turns Mortazavi's crowded living room into the chic French salon she's always wanted using various fabrics, curtains and other great items found in her home.
