Before and After: Living Room Redo
Decorating Cents : Episode DCT-1206 -- More Projects »
Donna Reynolds and Mary Desiderio, members of the Interior Redesign Industry Specialists (I.R.I.S.), reposition the furniture and accessories in a recently remodeled living room to create a more comfortable space. Here's how they did it: - The furniture is pulled away from the walls to create cozy conversation areas. The sofa, chair and coffee table are placed on an angle facing away from the window.
- To add weight and height, a dark wood secretary is placed against one wall. The doors are left open to reveal the intricate woodwork and showcase the silver accessories.
- Architectural items collected throughout the house are presented as a theme on another wall. The vertical arrangement of the accessories mirror the height of the secretary.
- Three lamps are placed around the room for ambiant lighting. Various floral and fruit accessories add interest to the side tables and clipped branches add height to the fireplace mantel.
