Serene Sitting Room
Sensible Chic : Episode SEC-812 -- More Projects »
Host Brooke Channon and the design team work together to re-create the look of the luminous, monochromatic sitting room. The room infuses rich textures and elegant shine to create this Zen retreat.Transforming the Makeover Room:
The design team transforms a sitting area with a post-collegiate feel into a relaxing tranquil space with the following steps:
- The transformation began with adding a rich pewter tone to the walls. Next, silk-like shower curtains were added to the windows. Since the carpet color already matched the rooms color palette the design team opted not to use a Tibetan style rug.
An ultrasuede sectional with clean lines and custom pillows served as the rooms seating area.
The homeowner painted a calmer version of the Japanese print found in the Inspiration Room. The design team stenciled a black coffee table to give it a cool texture. The coffee table was then dressed with a rare photography book and flowers.
The design team handpainted a four-panel screen with a branch motif to match the Inspiration screen.
A black console table was placed behind the couch to add interest. An ice bucket and decanter were spray-painted with silver accent stripes and placed on the console table.
