Floor-to-ceiling windows are dressed with an oversized black wrought-iron rod, gilded rings and silk shantung torquoise sheers.
Designer Jamie Drake shares how he met the challenge of designing a room with soaring ceilings and a view:
  • Bright blue and calvary yellow are the opposing colors in a space with an expansive garden view.
  • Large furniture is used to create four separate seating areas. One, in front of the large window, is composed of a nine-foot couch and a high-back wing chair. Another, beside the fireplace, is created with an oversized chaise and a second high-back wing chair. The third grouping consists of two ornate French-style chairs and a table tucked into a corner. The fourth seating area is made up of two wood-framed chairs covered in bright yellow silk.
  • A torquoise ottoman in front of the fireplace anchors the entire room and provides a dramatic focal point.
  • Artwork is minimal--a bright painting accents the fireplace, while on another wall, five coordinating art pieces are hung vertically drawing the eye upward.
