Aged Cabinets
To give the stark white cabinets an Old World flair, they add inexpensive hardboard to the front of each cabinet door.

For all available product information, click on the first After photo of the room.

Materials:

large sheets of hardboard.
table saw
sponges
carpenter's construction adhesive
paint (white, tan, charcoal)
primer

Steps:

1. Measure the inset of the cabinet doors and cut panels out of hardboard to match.
2. Prime the panels, if necessary.
3. Start with the lightest color and sponge it on to the panels. Repeat the process with each shade, getting darker as you go, to create a mottled effect.
4. Attach the panels to the cabinet insets with carpenter's construction adhesive.
