Textured Walls
To cover the walls' imperfections due to the removal of wallpaper, paint contractor Danielle Hirsch mixes one part paint with four parts of joint compound. The thicker paint creates texture on the surface of the wall. Hirsch rolls on the paint with a nappy roller and then knocks down the peaks with a large trowel to smooth it over. The frames make a simple, inexpensive feature on the long wall. It's also a functional display as the decorative platters can be taken down and used.
