Before: With their son in Marine training school, the Burkes rarely eat in their outdated kitchen covered in paneling. It hasn't been changed since the house was built in '67, so they want to change it using the colors, clean lines and geometric shapes of art deco style.

After: Painted cabinets with faux stained glass upper panels, red laminated countertops and a mosaic tile backsplash take the space from dark and dreary to bright and welcoming.

Before: A small built-in corner desk, boring hollow-core doors and an uninviting eating area do not entice the homeowners to spend time in this part of their kitchen.

After: 2x2 beveled squares painted brown mask the dreary paneling, stained glass panels attached to the painted doors lend even more interest and a romantic table for two completes this side of the room.

Christopher and Monique Burke have splinters from all the wood paneling in their '60s ranch home. The worst room is the kitchen and they need design help.
