  • Light granite countertops and a light tumbled-brick backsplash complement the newly painted cabinets dressed with brushed stainless hardware. Cheerful yellow walls and light wood flooring complete the soft look.
  • Instead of using matching appliances, the Hunsingers chose white for the refrigerator and dishwasher that are in line with the light cabinets to avoid a choppy look. The ovens, centered in a yellow wall, are stainless steel.
  • The ceiling fan, which was also used for general illumination, was replaced with recessed cans on dimmers. Under-cabinet lights provide task lighting.
  • The original cabinets were painted a light color, using multiple thin layers of paint that were sanded between coats.
