Sea-Inspired Design
Kitty Bartholomew: You're Home : Episode KIT-1005 -- More Projects »
Kitty Bartholomew visits a home where coastal colors have been combined for an unusual color palette. Here's how the designer creatively brought the sea inside:
- To simulate the ocean on a cloudy day, the designer painted the living room walls a soothing green-gray. The fireplace hearth features an Aegean blue color with multicolored glass tiles.
- Painted bamboo adorns the closet door in the entry (figure A).
- Mediterranean colors, like terra-cotta orange and sea blue, dominate in the kitchen (figure B).
- Bright yellow walls in the hallway act as sunshine in the light-deprived space .
- The walls in the guest bedroom are painted light blue and green with molding dividing the colors at door height (figure C). The green is continued on the ceiling to make the room feel larger. The daybed is draped with a simple four-paneled canopy hanging from hooks in the ceiling.
