luan plywood or Masonite
water-based chalkboard paint
five-in-one tool
utility knife
220-grit sandpaper

Steps:

1. Remove the glass and cardboard from the frame. Measure the width and height of the frame opening and transfer measurements to luan plywood or Masonite. Use a level for a guide and score the wood with a sharp utility knife. Sand edges until smooth.
2. Apply the chalkboard paint in the direction of the grain. Let dry for four hours and apply another coat.
3. Once dry, place in frame and secure with metal tabs.
