Cabinets come in three grades:
Stock--Pre-made boxes in fixed dimensions; the least expensive choice.
Semi-custom--Made in a box like stock, but with customized sizes and fittings; cost is a 20 percent to 30 percent increase over stock.
Custom--The most expensive choice, custom provides the perfect look and fit . A good choice when trying to match preexisting cabinets, when dimensions are unusual, or when designing the space to function optimally. They allow total personalization based on style preference, storage needs and function.
There are two main door styles for cabinets:
Face frame, in which part of the frame can be seen under the door. This has a traditional look.
Full overlay, in which the door covers the entire frame, typical of the European look.
