Host Joan Steffend and designer Peggy Sellwood have some fun with a young couple's recreation room creating an old-time movie theater they're sure to love.

$36 - Wall Treatment
The top-half of the walls is painted a warm henna color and the bottom half is painted black. In one section of the room, turquoise-colored wood cutouts are nailed along the bottom half of the wall.

$92 - Bistro Tables
Bar-height bistro tables and black stools create a fun conversation area near the concession stand. A bike rim used for the tabletop resembles a movie reel once it's painted black; a glass round (secured to the rim with bolts) provides a smooth surface. The base is created out of a plywood round and plumbing pipe; a 35 lb. weight on the wood base makes the entire piece stable. Soft workout grips are used to encase the pipe.

  • glass rounds: Kmart - 072000 73150
  • black stools: garage sale

$50 - Marquis
Personal photos are enlarged and set inside hinged frames from a thrift store.

  • frames: Goodwill

$45 - Accessories
The homeowner's film reel is placed over the fireplace.

$488 - Total Cost
