A Garden Nook
For the gardener without storage space, the entry can be transformed into a garden storage center for everything from seeds to pots to hand shovels. With the right furnishings, the foyer can be styled casually, but remain pristine and pretty. Imagine using a wonderful old marble-topped bureau for this purpose. The drawers can hold bulky items, and the marble top can be used to hold pretty pots. Seed packets and soil can be hidden inside brightly colored, handpainted pottery jars. Keep the area in bloom year round by having a faux painter create a garden scene that wraps the walls in the space or covers a wall screen. Painting the screen a plain color and decoupaging old postcards of gardens to the sides is also an option. Or instead of a painted screen, over the screen in fabric that has a garden theme, and sew pockets to hold the seeds, scissors, and other accessories.
