After: Bold Red Makeover
The couple makes the daring choice of red for the walls, which brings a lot of energy into the room. To diminish the flaws in the wall surface, a matte finish paint is used. To contrast with the red, the chairs are painted a pale sage green. The white trim is toned down to ivory because bright white paint wasn't invented until the 1950s, so it's not appropriate for a 1930s house. Next they select brown for the drapes in a glimmery silk fabric that reflects the ambient light. Roman shades in a lighter fabric conceal the view of the building next door. A vintage chandelier and golden accessories round out the 1930s era dining room makeover.

Did You Know? Pale greens were fashionable in the 1930s.
