Portrait
A 17th-century oil on canvas portrait valued at more than $6,000 hangs in the corner of the designer room. The team decides to personalize their rendition by using the homeowner as a model. Jamie takes a photograph of the homeowner in front of a black backdrop. The photo is printed on poster-size paper. To get the high-gloss finish and texture of a handpainted portrait, a semigloss gel medium is painted onto the photograph. Small brush strokes are used to apply the gel, which enhances the textured effect and gives the illusion of an oil-on-canvas painting.
