Tabletop – $87
The homeowner's existing dining table is given a new Spanish-style tabletop. Faux leather is stapled onto a large piece of plywood and then upholstery tacks are arranged along the edges for a decorative border. The base of the table is painted black, and the faux-leather tabletop is placed right on top of the old table.
  • vinyl: Brunette Glaze by Symphony, SYM-3002, purchased at Fabric Supply, Inc.
  • wooden bowl on dining-room table: Hutlett Dish, Ikea
Chairs – $70

The built-in buffet cabinet gets some sprucing up with wallpaper found at a garage sale. Before the paper is hung on the back wall of the cabinet, it is toned down with a little craft paint lightly applied with a makeup sponge.
