Homeowners Diana Coopersmith and Thomas Plason are tired of their bland dining room (pictured, right) and are ready to tear down the wood paneling and rip up the ugly gray carpeting. The couple has found the look they want. It is a festive Spanish-style room with large-scale furniture and vibrant colors. The problem is the price tag is also large scale–over $42,000.

Created by designer Connie Petersen, this festive and inviting dining room is made for entertaining. The beauty of this room comes from the stage the designer has set with the stately large-scale furniture and the masculine wrought iron. The color palette of citron, saffron and scarlet really gives the space a cheerful Spanish style, and the elegant table settings add just the right touch of sparkle and shine.

The Double Take team–makeover designer Michele Addey, budget shopper Halili Knox, and carpenter Jamie Schmitt–join creative forces to duplicate this colorful setting for less than $3,700.
