Wall Paint – $157
A palette of rich red, deep purple and a couple of soft accent colors start off the wine-bar theme. To give the walls depth, two coats of paint are used. First, the grooves in the knotty-pine paneling are painted red and purple, then a second coat of the same two colors covers the entire surface. Cream and bright orange paint are used to cover the fireplace and surrounding walls.

Various furnishings from thrift stores and garage sales are blended together to create the cozy conversation area:

Two large ottomans were found at a garage sale for only $10. To continue the wine-bar theme, new covers in a wine-cork pattern are added to the tops and held in place with drawstring. Materials for new covers were just $14.

An office credenza found at a thrift store for $30 is converted into a TV stand. The sliding doors are taken off the front of the piece for media storage.

A pair of garage-sale end tables and lamps spread color and light around the room. These four pieces were a bargain at $26.

Fire Place – $46
A hearth is built to spruce up the existing fireplace. A frame is constructed with plywood and then 12 x 12-inch square tiles are adhered to the frame. The fireplace brick is painted a modern cream color.
