Kassandra wanted a pirate theme for her bedroom. Instead of doing a literal translation that she might become tired of in her teen years, designer Vern Yip gave her a room she could grow into. He used a palette of sky and ocean blue then added a mix of feminine fabrics and nautical accessories. The horizontal stripes on the wall are separated by a thin red line and then the red is repeated in the drapes. The old carpet is torn up and dark hardwood flooring is laid down to look like the planks of a ship. Wicker baskets underneath the bed provide extra storage as does the oar-shaped peg racks (not shown) on the wall. To top it off, two new desks are brought into the room –– one for Kassandra’s brand new computer and another for her sewing machine.
