Virginia and Tom are the proud parents of three children. The couple recently adopted the three biological siblings out of foster care and gave them their first permanent home. Kassandra is 14, Albert is 12 and Anthony is 9. In course of their short lives, Kassandra has lived in eight foster homes and the boys have lived in seven. Because they've gone through so much, designer Vern Yip is going to help out this newly formed family by giving Kassandra a new bedroom and the boys a new shared play space.

Kassandra is about to enter high school, so the childish room is no longer working for her. She would like something that is more grownup and has a pirate theme. She would also like a space to put her brand new sewing machine, it is still sitting in the box because she has no place to put it.
