Before: No Room to Tumble
The David family has four kids ranging in age from 17 to 1. The two middle kids, 7-year-old Jack and 5-year-old Nick are two rough-and-tumble boys who need a lot of room to play. When the weather turns bad, their only indoor play space is the basement. The problem is, the basement is cluttered and cramped without much room to run and jump (pictured, right). Mom and Dad, Ruthie and Doug want to clear out the basement and give Jack and Nick a new playroom. When asked what they want in their new playroom, the boys replied – a jungle, a gymnasium and a bouncy floor.

Nick and Jack now have a place to indulge their wild side. This once-cluttered basement was transformed into an awesome indoor play space for less than $800. Sky-blue walls detailed with tree-green landscaping set the tone for the vibrant jungle playroom. Wavy mirrors give the waterfall wall some clear movement. Thick floor mats and a gym bar provide the boys with a safe place to tumble and jump. Dad’s music equipment needed to stay in the basement, so designer Bobby De Leonibus placed it along the far wall, out of the way of somersaults and cartwheels.
