Center Stage
A bright-pink, platform stage serves double duty as an extra storage unit. Built using plywood and piano hinges, the top pieces open up so the kids have extra space to store theater props. In the left corner, a dressing room is crafted from half a hula hoop and fabric. The hoop is threaded through the soft, brick-stenciled fabric then attached to the wall. Clothes hooks and a mirror are hung inside the dressing room making it easy for the performers to make a quick change. Purple storage ottomans provide seating for the audience and a new radiator cover gives them a place to put their popcorn. To add atmosphere to the stage, the same fabric used for the dressing room is also used to create curtain panels with gothic-style window cut-outs.
