Before: Roommate on the Way
Engel and Erin Indo have three daughters and another baby on way. Four kids, three bedrooms – somebody’s going to have to share. That somebody is 3-year-old Presley. To help her get used to her new roommate, Mom and Dad thought a room re-do might help. The room is small (pictured, right), the parents would like to see the space and storage maximized as much as possible. Also, they don’t know if the new baby is a boy or a girl, so they want a gender-neutral color palette. When asked what she wants in the room, Presley said she wished for her favorite color – pink, dogs and monkeys.

After: Jungle Room
Designer Rachel James used a jungle theme to give Presley and her parents everything on their wish list. Mom’s childhood animal mobile provides inspiration for the design. The mobile is restrung and hung over the crib. The room’s new color palette includes sunny yellow, jungle green and a little pink for Presley. The new layout makes the room seem bigger and gives the kids more floor space to play. The total cost of the project was just $800.
