Before: Too Much Wrestling in The House
When brothers Kenneth, Austin and Jordan, aren’t battling it out virtually with video games, they’re battling it out and wrestling in the family room. Mom and Dad have had enough, they want the boys outside and away from the TV. Their backyard is plenty big for recreation (pictured, right), the problem is, it is also plenty boring. The parents would love to build a hang-out space for the boys underneath their second-story deck where they could play, relax and have their friends over. Before the makeover begins, designer and landscape architect Kathy Von Bredow asks the boys what they wish to see in their new backyard play area. Their wish list includes: a fort, TV, wrestling mat, sparring bag, and a climbing wall.

After: Boys Clubhouse
Next: Up the Creek
The under-deck clubhouse is a big hit for the family! With a climbing wall, punching bag, water guns, terrarium, and tire swings, the boys may never come back inside. All their wishes, except for the TV, of course, have been granted and the parents are thrilled. The total cost of the project was just over $1,300.
