Materials:
inkjet printable fabric sheet
plain and coordinating fabrics
sponges
fabric or acrylic paints
polyester batting
paper towels
scissors
Steps:
1. Create poem and put baby's name and birth date in graphic program sign format. Print design onto fabric sheet following manufacturer's instructions.
2. Apply paint to baby's hands and print onto sheet. Let dry (figure A).
3. Cut sponges into desired shapes. Dip each into the paints and dab excess onto paper towels. Create a background design on the plain fabric and add painted embellishments . Let dry overnight.
4. Cut coordinating fabric into four one-inch strips to create a border around the printed computer design. Fold them in half and stitch them in place along the raw edges.
5. Cut four three-inch strips from the painted fabric and press a B=-inch hem along the one long edge of each. Sew along the folded edges around the coordinating border .
6. Cut backing for pillow; place right sides together and sew the pillow, leaving a small opening for turning. Trim the corners and turn.
7. Top-stitch around the inner border to create a flange (leave the opening). Stuff with batting and sew opening closed.
