The bed is the most important design element in any bedroom. A New Orleans-Victorian style needs a grand, ornate bed, so this four-poster bed with ornamental headboard is ideal. Some stripper, stain and a little varnish bring out its original grandeur.

For the canopy, a decorative shelf is used as the top, and brocade fabric with a pewter pattern is attached with staples. Another neutral jacquard fabric, covering a triangular wood panel, is attached directly to the wall behind the hanging canopy for the illusion of a more elaborate canopy.
