Wall Treatment
To give the space some European elegance and dimension, wall paneling is created with crown molding. The room is painted a soft green-satin finish on the molding and flat finish on the walls. The stencil paint is slightly darker than the walls in order to get a tone-on-tone effect. The scrolled-leaves stencil pattern is reminiscent of what you would find in an old European home. By layering these subtle design elements, Kenneth is able to achieve a sophisticated look with an elegant, understated feel.

Kenneth's Tip: When using stencils, dot and dab on the paint rather than brushing it on. For an aged look, you don't want to create a solid pattern. By gently tapping on the paint you'll give the pattern highlights and keep the paint from running down the stencil.
