Elegant Aqua Bedroom

Double Take : Episode HTAKE-211 -- More Projects »

Before: Lost Everything in a Flood
Homeowner Fauzia Zaheer was traveling abroad when a flood ruined most of her belongings that were put away in storage. She's now moved into a new apartment, but she has hardly any furnishings. Her bedroom consists of a bed, a folding chair and a radio (pictured, right). She longs for a new bedroom, one that is serene and comforting–a private sanctuary where she can relax and unwind. She found just that when she came across a designer room. The only problem is the price, at more than $31,000.

The Inspiration Room
Designed by Carter MacCartee, this serene and relaxing room was designed to be a sophisticated, peaceful retreat. She achieved the look by using traditional and contemporary furnishings with a mix of eclectic accessories and custom bedding. The subdued color palette includes a blend of the finest upholstery and fabrics–silk and grass wall covering, dupioni silk bedding, pillows made of imported European textiles and original handpainted artwork.

The Double Take team–makeover designer Michele Addey, budget shopper Halili Knox and carpenter Jamie Schmitt–create a mirror image of this sophisticated bedroom for less than $2,200.
