Bureau
In the designer room is a hand-planed mahogany bureau that is worth over $10,000. Halili finds a dresser at a showroom liquidator for only $250. The price is greatly reduced because some of the hardware is missing. The dresser has the same dark finish, height and scale as the designer original and it complements the traditional elements of the room perfectly. New silver handles are purchased from a hardware store for just $60.

Tip: Showroom liquidators are a great resource. They sell furniture that has been used as displays in stores and showrooms. Every big city has one, and the best part is the furniture has not been used. It maybe a little nicked up, but you can get designer furniture at really low prices.
