Victorian design is characterized by dark woods, deep colors and ornate accessories so the furniture is stained dark to match each other. The wingback chair is slipcovered in a brown cotton fabric. An arts-and-crafts-era armoire found in the garage is amended by adding shelves using wood from an old desk to hold the TV and VCR. A jewelry cabinet is built from scrap wood and old window screens, decluttering the room. A photo of Jake's great-grandmother is mounted on an oval canvas and hung on the wall.
