Versailles Bedroom

Double Take : Episode HTAKE-111 -- More Projects »

Before: Bare and Boring
One of the biggest challenges newlyweds Lolly and Dan Rosales have faced in their married life is how to decorate their bedroom (pictured, right). The room lacks the romantic, grownup style they want. The couple has found a photograph of a designer bedroom they both like, but the price certainly is not agreeable–over $70,000.

The Inspiration Room
Designer Bob Federighi was inspired by Marie Antoinette's bedroom at the Palace of Versailles when he created this romantic, luxurious room. To achieve the extravagant feel, no expense was spared. The valance and canopy crown are handcarved, the draperies are made from 30 yards of high-grade silk, the mirror and picture frames are custom-made gilding, and the furniture is detailed with unique ornamentation.

The Double Take team–makeover designer Michele Addey, budget shopper Halili Knox, and carpenter Jamie Schmitt–rise to the challenge of re-creating this palace boudoir for less than $3,400.
