Before: Very, Very Plain
Homeowners Christie and James Webb are moving into a new house, and they would love help furnishing their master bedroom. Thus far the only items in this very plain room are a bed frame and mattresses (pictured, right). They found a photograph of the look they want–a sophisticated and serene room done in neutral tones of blue, beige and white. The room has a masculine feel while retaining very feminine qualities, a perfect fit for the homeowners. But the price of this bedroom is anything but a perfect fit–it costs more than $27,000!

The key elements in this sophisticated designer room are natural textiles, a soothing color palette and traditional furnishings. Designer Annie Bowman created this peaceful, tranquil setting by keeping the furniture lines simple and the hues neutral. The use of natural fibers–linen, cotton and silk–in the bedding combined with the solid mahogany furniture give the room a soothing, spa-like feel.

The Double Take team–makeover designer Michele Addey, budget shopper Halili Knox and carpenter Jamie Schmitt–take on the challenge of replicating this designer original.
