Designer Alysa Weinstein makes over a bland bedroom using "wasabi" as her inspiration. Green is a great color for a bedroom because it's refreshing and natural. The human eye sees more shades of green than any other color so Weinstein plays with that in this boring space by painting very bold stripes in different greens, which is an affordable alternative to wallpaper that's also fun and easy.Horizontal Stripe Painting Tips:
- After measuring the walls, use a long level and pencil to mark the bottom of the top stripe.
- Start by applying the top color first, and then work down the wall.
- Once the first band of color is dry, measure/mark the next stripe and use a low-adhesion painter's tape just above the pencil mark along the top of the next stripe to avoid peeling the paint off when dry.
- In order to prevent dripping between the stripes, always paint a little below the bottom of each. That way, you can paint over that color when it's dry.
