A Kathryn Ireland bed is like a luxurious cocoon with lush fabrics, soft linens and beautiful details that make you want to stay in bed all day. Unfortunately, there's no fear of lingering too long in this bedroom. With little to look at and a non-descript bed, the space doesn't have the comfort level that a bedroom should. Designer Kate Hart takes her cue from Ireland's style so it can be used to the fullest: - After everything is cleared out except the chairs, the great bones of the room are apparent--large windows with lots of natural light plus neutral walls and carpeting.
- Hart picks a neutral floral pattern with tassel trim and a red print for a fabric canopy, just like Ireland would.
- Kathryn Ireland believes that repeating patterns can unify any room so with that in mind, Hart creates curtains out of the same fabric as the canopy and hangs them with ring clips.
- To accommodate busy lives, a small console table with a leather top crowned by a French-inspired mirror provides a place to work in the bedroom. The existing desk chair gets a new look quickly and easily with the addition of a bold check slipcover.
- Finishing touches include family photos and books next to the bed and on the desk for easy reading. Pillows made out of leftover fabric add dimension to the bed and armchair and can be easily changed for the seasons. Finally, framed dried leaves and flowers create original artwork similar to that found in Ireland's Hotel Oceana rooms.
