Guest Room Redesign
Decorating Cents : Episode DCT-1506 -- More Projects »
Interior redesigners Jamie Hyatt and Kristen McCarthy find ways to transform a guest bedroom into a children's retreat, without spending any money. - The bed placement makes the room look choppy and the posts take up too much visual space. To solve this problem, they place the beds side by side with room for a nightstand in between.
- A blanket chest placed adjacent to one of the beds adds weight to other half of the room. Quilts are stacked inside for visual interest.
- A corner chest is placed in another corner and an area rug is set on the floor on the same angle as the chest.
- A bench, rocker and ottoman rescued from the basement create a small-scale seating arrangement at the foot of the beds.
- A layered look is created on the beds by folding the comforter back to expose the decorative bed linens.
- Billowing white curtains add softness to the windows.
- Themed accessories, including a bunny print and ceramic figurine, reinforce the child-friendly atmosphere.
