Designer Kate Stamps and her husband Odom have created their own fairy tale fantasy on a thickly wooded lot. Their home, the former carriage house of a large estate, could easily be mistaken for a cottage in a fairy tale. They share with Kitty Bartholomew how they have updated the home with arts-and-crafts details and ingenious designs.

Every square inch of space was put to good use; here, inside the back entryway, a bank of shelves provides storage and display space on top.

An outside porch was enclosed to make room for a formal dining space so they painted the floor in an interesting pattern to freshen it up.

...swings open to reveal storage for china and serving pieces! Kate's father made the custom piece and presented it to them as a gift.

The valances were made from antique bedding.

The master bedroom has a medieval design style because of the low ceiling and dark, ornately-carved furniture. The built-in bed is framed with an old doorway surround. Storage on either side is hidden behind upholstered doors. Space was even created for a large-screen TV!
