Before: Needs Some Life
Homeowner Paolo Salati’s bedroom is big and spacious (pictured, right) with beautiful tile flooring–but it’s also sparse and cold and the homeowner lacks the time and design skills needed to change it. He found a plush bedroom in a magazine that is just the look he wants and it’s a perfect match architecturally, but it is not a perfect match to his budget—the designer bedroom in the magazine costs over $33,000.

Designer Katie Anderson who created this beautiful bedroom explains the key to her design is being able to keep the room elegant without being stuffy. "This room works because it’s comfortable not stand-offish, you don’t feel like it’s too elegant to touch." The elements in the room combine to create a lot of interest–the unique mix of antique furnishings and eclectic accessories give the space a warm and masculine feel.

The Double Take team–makeover designer Michele Addey, budget shopper Halili Knox, and carpenter Jamie Schmitt put their magic to work re-creating this alluring and sophisticated bedroom.
