Host Joan Steffend and designer Nan Sloan take a bedroom from a little-boy look to a sophisticated teenage space.

$19 - Paint
They start by painting two walls a light gray-green color.

  • wall paint: Behr - Promenade, 400F-5

$161 - Upholstered Walls
The remaining two walls are upholstered with batting and fabric, which works to absorb some the sound from the boy’s drums. The batting is secured first with staples, then the fabric (which Sloan had already seamed together) is stapled directly on top of the batting. Painted trim is used to hide the rough edges.

  • fabric: outlet
