Carolyn MacIntosh’s husband Craig is away on business a lot, so she takes this opportunity to surprise him with a room makeover. Designer David Bromstad draws inspiration from her husband's tropical shirt and a British colonial style restaurant Bromstad visits. He combines traditional and island styles to turn the master bedroom into a tropical getaway the couple can enjoy together.

Right now the master bedroom feels more like a family room. It's a place the kids like to come hang out, but the MacIntosh wants it to be a getaway for adults only. She is ready to let go of the furniture in the room and the bedspread that they've had their entire married life together. She would also like a style that coordinates the bedroom with the attached bathroom.
