Tranquil Spa-Like Bathroom

reDesign : Episode HRDN-413 -- More Projects »

Before: Vintage Pink
Danielle and Tom moved into their 1940s cottage-style house a little less than a year ago. They love their new place, but there's one room that needs to be brought into this century –– their tiny master bathroom (pictured, right). The couple agrees that the pink-plaid wallpaper and tile has to go, as well as the carpeting and tiny bathtub. They'd love to find a way to create more space and have the bathroom feel more spa-like and tranquil.

After: Perfect Sanctuary
Next: Wall Tile
After months of work and some hard decisions, Danielle and Tom have the perfect sanctuary they've always dreamed of. More square footage was created when the bathroom was extended out into the hallway and the entry door was moved. Neutral colors and natural materials provide a soothing, spa-like feeling. The room gets that cozy, intimate feel by making the vanity look like furniture and personalizing the accessories. Patterned wall tile in a subtle hue sets the stage for an organic, tranquil environment.
