Romantic Modern Bathroom

reDesign : Episode HRDN-411 -- More Projects »

Before: 1982 Revisited
Lucie and Chester are newlyweds who recently bought a large Spanish-style ranch house. They love the size and amenities of their new home, but their dated master bathroom (pictured, right) is another story –– it's like stepping back into 1982. The ugly brown bathtub is too small, the floors are carpeted, and the oversize mirror is not a true reflection of the couple's sense of style. What's more, they think the tile and the grout color accentuate griminess. They agree on what they don't like about the bathroom, but they don't agree on what they want in a redesign. She likes traditional style, while he is partial to modern design. Host Kenneth Brown sets out to combine the couple's preferences and create a chic functional bathroom.

After: Modern Romantic Retreat
Next: Vanities
By combining both contemporary and traditional elements, this once-outdated master bathroom is transformed into a techno-modern retreat with traditional style. The mosaic wall tiles tie in with the modern design, and their iridescent-pearl colors create a warm, romantic environment. The new tub allows plenty of room for a relaxing soak, and its unique faucet, placed in the ceiling, is a perfect example of high-tech design. The new window treatments and vanities create beautiful focal points and blend both the homeowner's traditional and modern tastes perfectly.
