The patterns in granite vary from speckled to swirled, like the slab used for this shower.
  • The three most common natural stones used in the bath are granite, limestone and slate.
  • Granite is the hardest stone and the most expensive. It produces crisp, clean lines and comes in a huge variety of colors and movement of grain within the stone .
  • Limestone gives a rustic, European look. It is usually a creamy color that is susceptible to stains and scratches.
  • Slate is harder than limestone, and is usually found in shades of green, from deep to medium.
  • Onyx is a new choice for high end bathrooms. It is a semi-precious stone and priced accordingly.
  • Price of natural stone is based on its rarity and quality.
  • When buying natural stone, view the entire slab before buying, since there can be tremendous variation within the slab.
