Host Joan Kohn tours Sue and Ken Kellaway's master suite addition to their spacious Colonial home. The suite was positioned over the three-car garage at the back of the house to take advantage of the views of the lovely gardens and woods. Working with designer Gale Michaud, they created a serene suite that is both spacious and cozy .
- The suite consists of a sleeping area, an office area with dormers and window seats, and the bathroom, as well as a large and organized closet.
- The office used to be three side-by-side closets. Walls were removed to create the open space which allows interaction with other areas in the suite.
- A floral pattern for the curtains and pale yellow walls establish a gentle cottage style, while traditional cherry furniture and a four-poster bed keep the look from being too informal.
- The sleeping area has a tray ceiling with soft backlighting that helps define the space and creates a soft, relaxing light.
- The large bathroom has a 4' x 4' shower with tile and granite trim. Dark cherry cabinets are topped with granite.
- A large skylight in the bath let in the light, but made the room feel large and cold. To give a more enclosed feeling to the room, a canopy supported by columns was built over the tub area.
