The bedroom wall was kicked out an extra four feet to provide a sitting area. Abundant windows and a high tray ceiling create a light, airy feeling.

Instead of using a wall-to-wall mirror, which has a more contemporary look, the vanity mirror is framed in wood like a picture and flanked by sconces, continuing the antique Mediterranean look established in the bedroom.

The owners preferred a Mediterranean look for the master suite, which is isolated from the rest of the house, to provide an oasis of privacy when company visits.

  • The ceiling in the bedroom is a double step tray with crown molding on each of the three levels. It creates an elegant, Old World look.
